About St. Kitts Activities

St. Kitts & its sister island Nevis are located in the northern part of the Leeward Islands in the eastern Caribbean, 19 degrees north of the equator, and separated by a channel two miles wide. The yearly average temperature is 79 degrees Fahrenheit, with an annual rainfall of 55 inches.  The humidity on the islands is low, and constant northeast trade winds keep the islands cool.  Click here to see today's weather and a map of St.Kitts.

St. Kitts itself is a small island, measuring 23 miles long and 5 miles across at its widest.  It covers an area of 68 square miles. The island's point of highest elevation is Mt. Liamuiga, formerly Mt. Misery, at 3,792 feet.

The northern end of the island is mountainous with an extinct volcano and covered rainforest whilst the southern end of the island is dry with masses of empty beaches ideal for snorkeling.  Click on the button to the right to learn more about the island of St. Kitts' history or continue and read a little about some of its more popular attractions and historic sites.
